I have been looking at the Benchmade Rant for a while, just have not purchased it yet. I know it is priced a bit on the low side, but love the look and feel ( I was able to hold one in the local hunting store).

Does anyone own one and if so, any comments?

Thanks guys.

I own the DPT Rant, and it is IMHO one of the greatest values out there in the knife world. It doesn't get much attention, but it is a great knife in every aspect. It is meant to be a cutter (thin hollowground blade) so don't pry with it, but it cuts like a dream. The N690 steel is great, very similar to VG-10 (sharpness, duribility, ease of sharpening) in my opinion. The handle is very comfy, and well suited for long cutting task. If you are looking for a hunting or hiking knife, I would reccomend the Rant above many other high priced fixed blades.

I just got one for my wife-she loves it!!!(as do I)

I argree with everything michaelmcgo stated above as well

I can't bring myself to buy one of BM's "red DNA" knives, even though a couple of them give me a rise. It isn;t that they're not well-made, it's just the thought of a U.S. company like BM believing thay have to sub-out a line of knives to Asia in order to compete with Gerber and Kershaw, et al. Why not sub the whole dang company out over there so I can get on to buying knives from another manufacturer?

By the way, the Rant is one of the ones I like, along with the Fecas Gamer.

Sorry for "Ranting"......

Thanks guys!

I also felt pretty bad about buying one that is manufactured overseas. However, I love the look and feel of it.

Instead of the rant take a look at the BM 180, 190, and 192 if your looking to stay with US made. I love my 190. Anytime I go anywhere in the woods it is on my hip.

Well, based on following pics of (probably) lemon and the fact I don't own Rant but I do own SOG Field Pup I'd rather recommend SOG Field Pup :)
