I am looking to add to my fixed blade knives, and have a Final Judgement, but am looking for people's thoughts on their Extreme Judgement. This knife doesn't seem to be real popular. Thanks, cpm

There is a good vid on the Extreme Judgement on YouTube.. The reviewer quite liked it.

I have a couple Fehrmans, and I am quite fond of them. They are beasts in the out of doors... I bet the EJ is a monster of a chopper!

I have a final judgement, a friend has the extreme judgement, both are coated. We will be doing a chop off pretty soon here. Will post the outcome when its complete.

I just sold by Final Judgment user, (still have the keyhole prototypes) and there is NO way in hell I would sell the Extreme Judgment.....

2 entirely different classes of chopper in my opinion. The EJ is one of my top 5 "no matter what knives" it is satin, Erics choppers got me buying the smaller ones and I have been blown away by all of them. Fehrman does a knife right!!! If only the customer service was as good as the product.......

Fehrman steel takes a great egde and keeps it, but the geomtry of the EJ really lends to its chopping ability. With the choil and thumb grooves along the spine, it provides a very secure grip while choked up also. The handle is a little tall, and I find those with larger handes really like it. Some of my friends with smaller mitts found this was the only fault. A big one, but not enough to not use it. While chopping I have hit hidden nails, and buried brick and rock on occasion, a quick stroke with a xtra fine stone and back to new(ish).

I have a few that appear to be bead blasted that have developed a bit of discoloration, but nothing to be concerned about.

Watch the exchange as they regularly sell for 350ish range.

I received my Extreme Judgement a few weeks ago... LOVE it!!! I have owned dozens of Busses and IMO the fehrman just as good in the fit and finish dept.
AWESOME KNIFE!!!!

dbltap45acp whats up brother, the chop off will be epic, I will win, I gots bigger arms. :D

I just got my EXJ in the sale forum and had to purchase a sheath.
The Fehrman sheath just arrived, for $25.00. considering I would have to send off the EXJ pay shipping, insurance & for the custom sheath.
The Fehrman one is a bargan.

The EXJ is obviously blade heavy, but still fast in the hand.

The recurve is so slight that sharpening is no problem, I also ordered the Fehrman strop & diamond paste, this combo made this used EXJ so sharp it kind of freaked me out.

here are some pictures of it in the sheath, in hand, & with friends for scale.

I think when they come up for sale they don't move fast cause people are afraid of re-curves, " too hard to sharpen ", or something.

if you see one I say snap it up, I paid $375.00 and I think it is worth every penny.

if you have any other questions i will be happy to answer them if i can.

I've been drooling over the Fehrman EJ and LC for about 3 or 4 years now, but I've always fallen back and bought Busse instead (NMFBM, NMSFNO, BJ, etc) I've read and seen many good things about Fehrman, but their prices have jumped up recently.

Gravelface,
Did you have an issue with their customer service? I've been researching these knives pretty heavily and it's probably been the direction I've been leaning, but now you have me concerned. Customer service is very important to me.

I did email them weeks ago with a couple questions, but never heard back. I've read since that the best way to contact them is by phone but, I haven't yet had the chance to as my work schedule has been crazy.

Coal Cracker, like you, I have emailed them numerous times with several weeks to months in between "resending" the email and have only heard back 1 time. I attempted to join his forum shortly after it started, only to never having heard anything back from them. So it leads me to believe he only checks his email once every few months or he only answers "problems" and ignores the rest.....either way is not very customer friendly. I attempted to call once with no answer during normal business hours, but with my aggravation about never hearing from them I never called back. I just didn't feel it was worth the time to call as it wasn't an issue with their product so there is no point in hounding them, but at the same time gave the impression of not caring or too busy to communicate with their customer base. I have not made any attempts at contacting Eric in the last 2 years.....like I said, I have not had any reason to....his knives have exceeded all expectations. I understand it is a small(ish) operation, but I believe it is more important for this type of operation to be customer orientated.

Again, his products are flawless.....fit and finish are impeccable. They exceed expectations, but I don't know if I ever had an issue with one if I would be able to take care of it in a timely fashion based on the response time(s) I have experienced. BUT I have never had an issue and don't recall anyone having to return one due to any flaws.

Some folks may consider me a fan boy of Busse (yes, a large portion of my knives are Busse, but there are numerous other as well), BUT their products are some of the best production knives in the business and I can easily say, they have the BEST customer service I have ever experienced. Most anytime of the day and sometimes at night, you can get hold of someone there who will take care of any issue you have. Besides.....Busse made the first Extreme Judgment (It was called the Behemoth).

:D

They are a bit unresponsive to emails, me thinks their spam filter is too rigid... there is usually someone there to answer the phone, and believe it or not, they're quite responsive on facebook.

I think they may have turned around there customer service, I know dbltap sent in his final judgment to be re-coated and have a sheath swaped out with no problems.

I ordered my sheath and strop over the phone, a nice lady answered, but a very nice guy took my order and shipped it fast.

maybe they were under staffed when gravelface had tried to contact them before, alot can happen in 2 years.

If I were you I would not worry about the CS, I have spoken with them 3 times in the last 2 weeks and have nothing but good experiences.

I would think that unless you have a problem with the product why even call/email customer service? These guys are way too busy just to chat or get a compliment. I notice people talk about customer service all the time and which companies offer the best but that leads me to wonder if their products suck that sooo many people are bugging their customer service line or flooding their email with issues. When I get a good product from a custom maker I'll give him a call to say thanks or give praise, but Ferhman and Busse and Reeve are more production than custom so its not necessarily just some guy chilling in his workshop all day, its a company with a factory possibly. I must however state that all though I have had brief phone calls in the past with Ferhman and Busse, I do not own either of their knives...though its not for extreme desire to get a few of each. I haven't the life to be able to drop $4/500+ at one time but if I did and something was wrong-they had damn well better pick up the phone.;) I will say that I think the EJ/Fj are little sexier than the Busse equivalent. Just don't kill me for saying so:eek:

My experience with Eric was outstanding, but I did not use e-mail. I wanted the handle modified on my Final Judgment so I called and spoke with Eric.

Eric went out of his way to make sure I was happy with the modifications and he shipped the knife back to me quickly.

I called to discuss some additional modifications and to thank him for the work he had done. Again he went out of his way to stress that he wanted me to be happy with the knife.
and that he would take care of the modifications for me.

Obviously I do not know whether my experience was the norm or the exception but I will remain a loyal Fehrman customer, not just because of the exceptional quality of the knives, but more so because of how I was treated by Eric.

I bought the final judgement about 6 weeks ago,...outstanding knife. But before i puchased it I talked with Eric a couple of times to ask some questions, he was very accomodating and professional.
Some of you may or may not care about this part of it, but he is also a very strong Christian and proclaims his faith on his website. I LIKE that! In this day and age, I totally respect people who proclaim their faith. It was the reason I bought the Final Judgement, and as it turns out,..I got one heck of a blade from the guy.
God Bless.

While I do agree and would never call or email a company just to chat, I emailed them because I had a question about a knife I'd been seriously considering buying. Unfortunately, being married with children, I'm a man of modest disposable income. Having $4-500 extra that doesn't get allocated to more pressing matters doesn't happen that often anymore, so I research like crazy before spending the cash. Often that research involves clarification from the manufacturer.
