Does anyone really use this or the larger pattern as a Razor, I just sent this one to Case to have the shield replaced. I guess it fell out due to dryness, but when I got it back, opening and closing it got me to thinking, is this really a razor or not. What was the purpose of the pattern?

It's not a razor, it is a one hand pattern. It was made so you could catch the curve on a pocket or pant's seam to open it.

That shows you how much I know about the knives sitting in my cases, Charlie would be so ashamed of me. Thanks for info.

i have sharpened quite a few of these over the years. i'll have to try and remember that the next time i sharpen one. i'll probably never see one like yours though jim. how many of that model were made?

Richard, I have sent out a request to a "Case" Collector, perhaps he will know, I can not even read the tang stamp well enough to see the number.:grumpy:

Their new "razor" barlows have a strong sheffield notch to them, and I could see that making sense. The question is...do you sharpen these (old and new) like a knife or like a razor?

This knife from what I have been told is part of a Centennial Series that had 1000 pieces produced of each pattern used.

Actually, that's not a one arm jack. If you notice the tip of the blade, there is no nub to catch the belt with. I think it was most likely a pattern that had other uses.

God Bless
