If you not a paid member then you need to host your images offsite and then link them here using image tags. There are plenty of sites that will host your images.

Wow! I sure don't recognize it. It has the look of a hand forged piece not a production model. I bet some blacksmith or small shop made it.

Thanks Square_peg!
Yes it could be handforged, but it does have a traditional axe head slot.

I did a bit of checking on the "symbols" on the net last night....as strange as it seems these might not be a Makers mark as I thought but a "saying"..........when put together they mean.
Faith (cross), Love (heart) and Hope (anchor) A truely strange thing to be on a Hatchet don't you think?

Maybe it's a German maker from this list of tool markings:
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.holzwerken.de/museum/hersteller/marken.phtml&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.holzwerken.de/museum/hersteller/marken.phtml%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dubuntu%26hs%3DNb8%26channel%3Dfs%26prmd%3Dimvnsfd&sa=X&ei=xGJ9UISYE8rAigL60YAo&ved=0CCUQ7gEwAA

I started looking through the list and found:
"FAS in the heart with a cross and anchor = FA Schmidt, Remscheid "
which is close, but no cigar:
