Does anyone still care about SOCFK's ?

This is still one of my favourite Emerson's. I don't see many posts about them anymore. Lots of hype when they were new, but have they all faded into oblivion now?

I would love to get one, but availability seems to be quite limited. Came in to the game too late. I will have to call Tactical Edge and see what's up.

I pack one, and if I remember correctly, some of the other guys do. Still one of the best Emerson production knives out there. Wave, superb handle with contour grip, and finger guard so you don't slip onto the blade. Slim for a fold, yet meaty enough to just about anything.

Thinking about that framelock Commander to replace it as edc, but it still rocks.

Odysseus,
Give Steve a call, last I heard he had some of about every style left.

The Tanto bladed SOFCK is my favorite production Emerson. I carry it in rotation with my CQC6 as an every day carry knife.

Now if only I could convince Ernie to make my a CQC6 with a Wave...

Regards,

Ed

...if it came with a plain edge blade. From my understanding, there are a few plain edges around, but very few.

I thought I heard that the SOCFK blade and the CQC7 blade were the same. Is that the case? If so, I guess that if I wanted one bad enough, I could buy a waved CQC7 with a plain blade and a SOCFK, and then switch out the blades.

Ed and myself carry the same knives, must be a British thing !

CQC6 inside the waistband, SOCFK in the right pocket on and off duty.

The SOCFK is just as cool as it ever was. It is limited however, in that it can only be found in two stores: Extreme Outfitters in Virginia, and Extreme Outfitters somewhere in the Carolinas. So, although they are cool, there is not a whole lot of publicity out there, because, all things considered, few people or institutions are going to promote an item they cannot sell.

I do not know how many were made, or are currently available, but I suppose that they will be around for as long as they keep selling.

I carry mine on duty everyday. It replaced my Commander because the pommel end of the Commander kept wearing holes through my uniform trousers. It also does not deploy with the Wave as reliably as the Commander does, I think because the Wave does not clear the forward points of the handle as much as with the Commander.

I think if I were going to do it again I would go with the spear point.

The blade profile is also different than the CQC-7 in that, on the SOCFK the width of the blade remains the same down the spine until the primary bevel starts. The 7 has a false edge or swedge that starts further back from the point. The spine of the SOCFK also courves down to the point slightly, but the 7 is straight.

Still a very fine knife.

This has been my EDC lately.Serial # 440.Yes,plain edges are available if you look for them.My EKI is a little beat up from working a cutting dummy but still waves perfectly and cuts like new.Big Wave Dave OUT

I've carried my Tanto #57 for a year and a half constantly,
the only reason I semi-retired it was to put my refurbished PSARK through it's paces

JimBob:

When you're done with the PSARK, send it to me so I can play for a while too!

;)

The SOCFK is a great knife. A hybrid of the Waved CQC7 and the guarded body of the Specwar. Great combination.

I own but one at this point, Green-T bladed #010.

Scott:

I don't know if you remember, but look through some of the old posts, either Dogman or Bandyito did a custom retrofit and 'ground' off some of the front finger guard (Ti and G-10). A pic of it was in the gallery. That should alleviate some of those wave problems. I don't think the custom job would be too hard to do on your own with a good file or Drememl tool. Just a thought....
