Does anyone use a Leatherman Crunch?

I find myself using vicegrips a lot, and I was wondering how the leatherman Crunch was. It looks like it is about the size of a wave, and a little lighter. Is it worth getting, what are your experinces with it?

I EDC a crunch, and I am very happy with it:) My wife got me one engraved for Christmas this year. It's actually about the size of the PST when it's folded up. This is a great size to carry in your watch pocket. I also made a quick draw leather sheath for mine for work. I work on a lot of pumps and motors. I can tell you, it's a God send to have locking pliers at a notice. The pros: compact, strong, lots of neat fetures like the built in 1/4" driver. The cons: clumsy to open (not a one hander), the locking jaws make it so that only one side of the handles have extra tools, expensive. However, my wife got mine on sale for less that 60 bucks:eek: One thing I DID do was to grind off the serrations on the blade. It doesn't see much use, but unless it is a quality SE knife, I like having a plain edge for most of my multi-tool chores. Another cool thing....not many people carry them. Waves, Charges, PSTs, Spirits, etc but not too many Crunches:D

I agree with Steely_Gunz:
The Crunch is a clever little gadget, but the clumsiness of getting the plier jaws folded out and snapped into position is a drag. :(
And along with not having very many tools, the ones that are included are too short. :(
(Especially the knife blade and saw blade)

However, that is the trade-off for being a compact vice-grip multi tool.

On the other end of the scale is the Kershaw vice-grip tool. It has more and longer blades, but does not fold up nearly as compact as the Crunch.

Choose your poison.

Between the two, I'd choose the Kershaw. I like how the knife blade can be flicked out (Wave-like) without opening the tool up.

Here's a couple comparison pics:

I have a Crunch, and I love it. It isa great little tool. I don't EDC my Crunch, but I usually have it in the top lid of my pack on trips, and it is always in my backpack when skiing. I always have the Crunch and a Wave or Charge when skiing.

A Leatherman Crunch and a Victorinox One Hand Trekker accompany me on every bicycle ride. I bring the Crunch in case I need a makeshift clamp. I bring the OHT due to its larger knife blade and saw.

That sounds like a sensible combination. Those two tools compliment each other nicely.
