So I am new to Survive knives. I am waiting to try to pick up a new 5.1 after preorders ship. I own and carry pancake sheaths but prefer the slimmer taco. Does anyone use or know of a manufacturer of taco style kydex for survive knives?

Try hale storm. He's a kydex bender. I'm not exactly sure all the styles he does. If not there is several others around the forum.

Welcome to our little hole in the wall.

I don't have experience, but I know the two best kydex guys on this subforum are Kiah and Halestorm. Try getting in touch with them. Check back in when you have a new sheath. I don't know if I've ever seen a GSO in a taco style.

There have been some on the big auction site, and the aforementioned benders do great work! I have a leather taco style for my 4.1 and love it very compact!

^ This. I'd give these guys the first try as they're familiar with the line, and contributors here. I'll bet they work with the taco style sheaths. If they don't, check out Azwelke. His foldovers are very very nice. Like Silver, I'd also be interested in what you end up with.

ETA: Whoops, I recognize you now bud, and you're probably already familiar with Al. Anyway, let us know what you go with.

I'd a taco for my smaller GSO's! I actually didn't order sheats for some of my preorders because I prefer them with slimmer ITP sheaths.

Retention is a big problem with a lot of Taco sheaths though. Hopefully one of these guys on here can make them the right way because I'd be interested.

Honestly, a taco sheath wont be any thinner than the standard sheath. It is still only two layers thick.

Technically, the new sheaths are a sort of hybrid taco/pancake. You can see it a little in the video. They are a little narrower than before, but definitely not compared to a true taco. Didn't Kiah mention doing a taco in another thread?

Its folded at the thumb ramp huh.

I don't remember if kiah said anything or not, but I'm lucky I remember my name. I'm really lucky the wife writes my name on my tags.

I mentioned it for some N-IIs. Done plenty of foldovers and it's typically what I carry myself. I intend to have them available for all S!K knives when I get my website up and I'm laying out my new loops to work with both styles.

Great thread. I'm a huge fan of taco style for the thinner profile.

I would love to see pics of some Survives! in taco pants, if anyone has any.

Great to hear this!!
