Does anyone use DMT aligner stones on their edge pro?

I've been doing some research into a guided sharpening system so my wife can learn to sharpen. I have been looking for info on using the 4x1 aligner stones with an EP for a few days now and I can only come up with a few pic's and threads about it from ~2012, is anyone here currently using the aligner stones in an EP and if so can you offer me some feedback, are they to short? Any other major concerns about doing so?

They will work, but SharpMaker rods work better, and are not expensive. Why go smaller, when you can go longer?

Yes but I already have a full set of DMT aligner stones and on top of that I just sold my SM lol.

Does anyone have any advise/insight on the best way to mount them? Can I just clamp them on the rod or do I need to use the backing plates/"blanks" (or make my own)
