I'd gladly give away my most used knife if Jerry would make a knife nearly identical. I wish i could say the most comfortable, most ideal lengthed blade that got the most use was Infi. But i can't. Its just so useful in the kitchen. It excels at EDC and it's flat out the best hunting knife I own. I'd love it if Jerry made an Infi Vex.

A Vex in SR101!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was on the front porch bushcrafting with mine today and will be floating up the creek with nothing more than it, my ferro rod and heavily used RW!!!!!! I'd love to see some of those BM lovers float up the creek with all that weight!!!!!! :)

I just recently got a Vex at the AG Russell show and I love it. An Infi version would definitely be on my to get list.

I think the vex is perfect just the way it is to be honest, for the tasks its designed to do. D2 is a great steel for its given use, and I don't think it'd benefit all that much from INFI, but I don't consider a vex to be a hard use knife. I gotta pick up another one eventually.

I just wish my vex wasn't so prone to rusting. Its good that i use it in the kitchen because i can dry it frequently. Otherwise it rusts so quickly. If i leave it in my gear bag after a hunt i have to hit it with a cheese cloth or something mild to polish it up again.

It would be an interesting "comparable" to have an Infi Vex tested against the D2 Vex .... in that size and grind profile .... I suspect the D2 might win ....

Infi works best in larger heavy impact "chopping" knives .... although I would be interested to see how Infi does if the Infi Vex was taken to a Rc62 hardness ....

I was thinking the same thing. If they release a Vex style, in Infi, it would be great in a higher hardness like the BAD.

Because it would not do to release one with a similar blade profile, but too thick of stock.

+1. The Vex is one of only two knives in this size range that ALWAYS comes on trips, and I've never felt the need for a different steel. D2 as done by Busse is just awesome (and remember, Busse has loooooong experience HT'ing D2).
I don't see how any steel would improve this knife unless it would make the edge last even longer, but INFI is not that steel I think.

I'd still buy a similar knife by Busse though. I just know I would. :D Would it replace the Vex? Probably not.

I love the edge retention. I never need to sharpen it. No one else notices the Vex's tendency to rust quickly though? When I say I use mine a lot, I mean at least 5 days out of the week. It would be nice to wash it and leave it in the drain board once or twice... typically I have to dry it immediately and then the anal side of me forces me to spray it down with forced air and then mineral oil

I use mine only on camping trips, but it gets used quite a bit then. Never gave it much thought but there's no rust on mine, never was. If it gets dirty I rinse it off, wipe it with a slightly oily guncloth.

Busse treated CPM154 would be my pick. Keeps the price down, stainless, an all around great steel that Swamprat has worked with before successfully. Lets do some LE's and SE's with some nice handle options. The Vex is a super design.
