Does Barco own the Kelly brand name?

Your post caused me to do a little research. Check this out, Barco's Professional Fire Fighters axe, look closely at the bit.

Looks to have a forge welded high carbon bit. I've sent inquiry as to the construction of this axe and the steel type used for the bit. I also asked generally about the steel used in their other axes. It will be interesting to see which if any of their products use high carbon steels.

I see it Square Peg but I find it hard to believe that any large scale producer is forge welding bits. It sure looks the part from the picture though. There reputation is not that good over all. I wonder if you will even get a response.

There's very little reason to forge weld bits today...I highly doubt that they are.
