I love my Doug Ritter Griptilian, but I had heard through the grapevine that benchmade was going to make Micarta handles for a special griptilian. Is this true? and if so do you think if i sent them my rittergrip they could put the new handles on, I think it would be a great addition to an almost perfect knife

The robber-plastic handels is the only reason I'm avoiding buying it. If they really are going to use micarta on them I will be first in the line to buy.

no, but someone on this forum sent one to a custom maker and had it rehandled in micarta; I'd have to look for the post.

Check out Chax Knives. Link.

I would love to see that knife in Green Micarta with a nice beadblast to improve the grip

I agree with powells85: green micara would ROCK!

I have two Doug Ritter RSK knives now, both full size, and they are great just the way they are, but many of us would also appreciate an option for a nicer grip.

Doug Ritter did EXACTLY what he wanted to do with his knife - bring an EXCELLENT survival knife to the general public at a very reasonable price. The question is... Will Benchmade capitalize on this very happy customer base cultivated by Doug Ritter?

Wow, that Ritter looks AMAZING with those micarta slabs.
Any idea what the cost was on that upgrade/customization?

well I actually made the original post under my buddies name cause I was visiting his house and he was already logged in, but the is the email I got back from the company.

"The Grip is the most involved of all the scale jobs. As far as me, i've done all of them i want to, even tho it's a $200. job. One must have the knife to do it since tolerances are way more critical than one may think. I ussualy advise against doing the Grip. chase"

Thanks for the info.

I was assuming it would be pricey, given the work involved.
