Does BK9 blade geometry = BK7 geometry???

Since I've been very impressed with the BK7's cutting & chopping performance due to its blade & edge geometry, I gotta ask, "Is the blade height (edge to spine), cross-section shape, stock thickness, and grinding (primary & edge bevels) on the BK9 the same as on the BK7?" In other words, is the BK9 just a longer bladed version of the BK7? I'm sure hoping so. ;)

Hi Hey Rokjok....

The Combat Bowie(BK9) has similar edge geometry to the CU7 but with subtle differences. Both are designed to have plenty of slice with enough strength behind the edge to withstand vigorous chopping. The Combat Bowie IS taller and thicker than the BK7 with a bit more material behind the edge but with the high grind line the edge geometry is pretty damn close in how it feels in use. You will love the choppiness and there is still plenty of slice. We have not had enough protos to do extensive levering to destruction tests yet but from all the testing done and the lovely way the knife handled at the post BLADE show get together at Wallace Fennell's hunting camp last week it is a really good tool. Me thinka you gonna like, my friend.....

Choppiness............

I like that word..

Hows my weird old uncle????

Oh, By the way, I am finer, contrary to poular opinion

Ethan,

Thanks for setting my anxiety at ease regarding the BK9. I ordered one as soon as I found they were available. I'm extremely looking forward to working with it.

The reason I ask about the BK9 is that the BK7 has REALLY spoiled me on what I call "ease of entry" when chopping up the laurel brush that is intent on taking over my yard. That BK7 edge glides into and penetrates MUCH better on a chopping stroke than anyone would expect from a 7" blade that's not massively heavy. It sounds like the BK9 will likewise be bringing a smile to my face while wreacking havoc & destruction on that diabolical brush. :D

Thx again,

Hi Hey ANTHONY
The question your old weird uncle poses is.. finer than what?
I hope this means that you are fully recovered.

All Best from the older than weirder !
