Does Bladeforums cause Netscape browser crash?

I'm trying to get a survey to see if anyone else is having the same problems as I.

I can crash the browser everytime when I open multiple windows with Netscape. This does not happen when using MS Explorer, nor with other websites. Curious.

It is I.... ahhhh... you know who it is!

It's curious indeed! Ever since I installed MSIE, Netscape crashes on me. Not just from Blade Forums, but on other sites as well.
I'm on a Mac, so this may not pertain to you, but I allocated more memory to Netscape, tried using new and old versions of it, but no matter what, it still crashes after I go through a few sights.
Maybe it has something to do with the browser cache, but I diddled with that as well.
I just chalked it up to the evilness of Bill Gates and don't use Netscape anymore (even though I prefer it)

In the last 6 months I purchased a new computer and my company gave me a new laptop. The *very* first thing I did was uninstall explorer. I have Netscape 4.7 and do not have any kind of problem with it.

Netscape occasionaly crashes on me, it does not seem to matter which site I am at or how many windows I have open.
The most likely problem is Netscape tries to use a peice of memory that's not it. Windows doesn't like this so it kills the offending program.

Under Linux, netscape apparently has a tendency to screw up the whole system.

No problems here, either. If you give more info about your system, maybe I (or someone else) can help. Specifically, what OS (if 98, first- or second edition?), how much memory, what version of explorer, and anything out-of-the-ordinary about it. Can't promise anything (read my profile), but each year I have a CS major for a roomate, so I've learned a lot of stuff 'by osmosis.'

P.S. Bladeforums is the only thing I use IE for, since the UBB software supports a few things with IE that it doesn't with Netscape. Have it set as the homepage...

Now and then Netscape crashes when I'm in BladeForums. I upgraded to NS 4.72 and the problems stopped. Then Spark did his stuff on the entry to BladeForums and the problem came back!

I've tried several times to look at that special offer page from the front page, as soon as I try to scroll my whole system locks up. Reboot time.

I'm running Communicator 4.72 in Windows 95. I only have 64mb RAM so that could be a problem. But then Explorer never crash.

Sorry for this off-topic post. I just wanted to see if this was a common problem.

I have this problem too from time to time, and I don't think our site causes it, per se, because my NS crashes on any site... it's equal opportunity. I just think it' a Netscrape bug

I run linux with netscape 4.7
Seems to work fine here, but on knifeforums.com it messes up alot.

My Netscape 6.0-something goes Tango Uniform anytime I try to open a window that fires up Java, when I have multiple windows open. For example, if I go to KnifeOutlet, with any extra windows open, I have to wait patiently, and not even move in my chair, until the window opens completely. After that initial startup, I have no problem. But, if I even sneeze during that portion, CRASH!

Try Disabling Java. You can leave JavaScript enabled. No, they are not the same thing. I find this helps with both IE and Netscape, on Macs, WindowsNT, and Solaris UNIX.

Have you ever thought of "Bill Gates" NOT being really/truely fond of Netscape and therefore Windows as a brainchild might follow it's "Boss"........
Its NOT just BF, its any forum.

I have two distinct Netscape problems. One is random, and related to how often I clean my cache out. Netscape seems to be unable to do that on it's own, and will occasionally decide to kick the bucket when the cache gets full.

The second problem is site-specific. I've encoutnered it a few times here, specifically with the new features Spark added, looking at the hats and blade-bags early on. This may be the Java problem, I do not know.

Both problems happen with multiple windows open, and I differentiate by emptying my cache, and going back. If it happens again, I try to remember not to go back there again.

I will disable Java, and see if I get fewer problems.
