does blood effect handles?

Is there a handle material that would be permanently stained by blood, ie skinning an animal.
the reason i ask is because i am looking at a BRKT Gameskeeper with antique ivory micarta handles as my primary hunting knife

Thanks.

Micarta will not absorb or hold onto liquids so you are safe. The paper, linen or cloth used to strengthen the micarta composition is permanently sealed within epoxy while under pressure.

Even if you managed to stain your micarta, a light buffing with 420 grit emory paper will remove it without taking off too much handle material.

Worst case, BRKT warranties your knife for life and they will fix any strange damage you manage to do to your micarta or steel.

...or do you want to permanently stain your grip?

The proteins in blood may stain some unfinished woods.

Good Micarta will just get nice and sticky and clean off nicely. ;)

I used an ivory micarta handled blade for years and it never stained. I would think Wood should be stabilized. I have used Desert Iron Wood that wasn't stabilized and it did not stain. All others were stabilized so I can't speak from experience.

Blood may darken wood, but many butcher shops use wood handle knives, so I don't think there would be any serious damage.
