Does Buck consider the Buck/Mayo a success?

I would like to get a perspective from Buck. I applaude them for making a production TNT. Certainly there was some risk involved. A production knife like this does fill a niche, but your average "Joe" may not want to spend the $$$.

I am sure that Buck put a lot of thought into it before deciding on taking on such an endeavor.

My questions for Buck are:

  • What criteria was set to consider this venture a success?
  • Has the Buck/Mayo met this criteria?
  • From this experience will Buck likely take on similar projects in the future?

I apologize for the long winded question, but I am interested in the business aspects of the knife industry.

i dont know what they consider a success but the first run of 2000 knives have been spoken for and pre sold.....they are going to do another run is what i hear.....a buddy who i smoke cigars with at the tobacco shop is a buck distributor.....he called buck directly to place an order for some of the buck/mayo folders after i showed him mine at the "round table"....he was told he wouldnt be able to get in on the first run of 2k and he would have to wait two to four months and get in line for the ones he wants from the second run....

to me it looks like it is going well

i know tom has another collaboration in the works with buck....yes another folder but that is all i am going to say

We have instituted a 12 month rolling product introduction process. We were on time for the first time in a long time this last Shot Show Jan 03.

We have two introductions per year. Jan and August. R&D is working on Jan 04 right now while Engineering is working on August 03. In about 60 days R&D will begin developing August 04.

We have our next collaboration with Tom slated for Jan 04.

We are just now finalizing our direction for August 04. (I love this stuff....)

Thank you Mr. Buck. I am glad that Buck decided to take a risk and produce this knife. I hope it pays off huge divedends and I hope that Buck continues to make similar decisions in the future.

I thought it was Darrel Ralph that made the Bullnose?

that was what i was thinking too, I dunno if that blade profile will look good on a considerably smaller knife such as the TnT, what i really want to see is a recurve profile like the one on some of Tom's customs.

mschwoeb - is your avatar a picture of blood moon from the upcoming 8th edition MTG set?

I just thought it would look cool, not sure if its that or just a filtered picture of the sun.

Good to see other MTG players on the forums. I actually stoped playing type II a year ago (still did games for fun w/ friends) but I do plan to get back into it eventually.

I'm unsure about the picture though.

Interesting...first I saw a person using the name Asha'Man (from the wheel of time, a fantasy book series.) Then I saw a thread about Dune (A Sci-Fi book series). And now MTG players. Good people on this forum!:)
