I went to the Busse website to see what ya"ll might see so special about them and must say the Infi steel does look like it has some awesome characteristics for sure. But only saw the one style of knife offered. I guess a feller could just search for a used one in a different style though

Check out my website for a historical catalog and watch the Busse exchange for the one you decide on.

Thanks :) Like I said the Infi steel looks cool but the current model just looks way to big and I did not like the hooked end on the handle either.

Hogs, correct me if i am wrong.

Rspaulding, usually 2 new style (model) of Busse offer in a year. They come and go usually don't come back. Occassionally they are back during "Extravaganzaaaaa", but its not the same blade, usually is model varient, custome or military over run.

BA just off the line, FBM was offer Fall/Winter of 2006. Sus Scrofa(SS) is the current run.

Most of models you can find in 2nd market at exchange or ebay. Some models you can find at www.bussecompanystore.com if you are fast enough.

To order a Sus Scrofa will have to wait for "2 WEEKS".

I think that is what you are asking for right! Good luck with ur purchase.

Now that was neat BusseCollector The combat grade Badger Attack looks more like my style Thanks again now we will just see if the cash flow is right when one becomes available

The theory is that the Busse shop offers 1 or 2 of their standard models at any one time. You order, with the options you want, and take delivery when the shop finishes them. Depending on demand and how busy they are, expect to wait 6-8 months or more to get your knife. After they run through the 15 or so standard models, they'll start over and offer them all again. (This starting over has not been tested. We're still working our way through the first batch of the "Fusion" models.)

There are several other ways to get knives:
1. Go to a show (Blade, Blade West, Knob Creek for example). You can walk away with your knife the same day, but you have to accept whatever the shop brings.
2. Extravaganzas - These are sales by the Busse shop announced over the internet. There are a few forms. Most often, the knives are already made and whoever emails an order first gets it. Sometimes, the shop accepts orders, and then makes the blades. Expect a few months wait in this case. Either way, knives/orders are gone in seconds to hours.
3. Busse Company Store - This is different from the Busse Shop. They order a few models in relatively large quantities, and take orders on the internet. Knives are in stock and ship immediately. Most blades sell out in minutes to days.
4. Custom Shop - The Busse Shop takes custom orders. I have no experience with this, but expect to pay a few hundred dollars per inch of knife. Long time customers and military units probably have better luck with getting custom orders filled.
5. Buy on the aftermarket. The best source is the Busse Sale region of bladeforums, where people weed out their collections on a regular basis. You'll see the widest range of models here. Other options include eBay and some dealers at shows or on the internet. Somebody even found Busses on Craig's List recently. If you stick around awhile, you'll get to know people and may be able to finagle trades.

Badgers have been shipping lately, and I'd expect some to start appearing on the Bladeforums sale site if you're interested in that model.

Several of the new badgers have already been sold in the exchange here. If you watch it closely and act quickly, you can probably snag one for about original cost + shipping to you. I sold one recently like that. I ordered a combat grade and a LE. I did not reallly like the feel of the CG and sold it as soon as it came in. I got my money back and someone got a great knife within a week of saying "I'll take it" instead of the several week wait I had. This happens a lot since there is no where you can go to look at and handle the knifes before buying. As said earlier, there is also a lot of movement in the exchange because of people changing their collection direction. I did the very same thing. Bought a few at random and then decided to narrow it down to one style of blade finish and handle material. I then sold the rest and am going in that direction.

Bottom line to all my cafine rant is to do your homework (its really a labor of love), figure out what you are looking for, and watch the exchange and the company store. You will be surprised how many $$'s you can spend on knifes that appear to be unavailable when you first start looking. I thought so too and now have several nice pieces. It won't take long!

Beware of the addiction.............................................
