Just picked up a aged bronze cgfbm I'm just wondering if anyone really put it through the paces see how the finish holds up so post some pics of any of the cerakote busse:D

On firearms, yes, on chopping knives, not so much, but then I am not a huge coating fan anyhow. :)

I disagree, if cured and bead blaster well without any moisture cerakote can be very durable.

You seriously think that if Busse just handled the coating process better, that kind of wear wouldn't occur with that kind of use?

Maybe it's just my preference for the functionality and appearance of satin blades, but I have a very hard time believing Busse isn't already doing as good a job at cerakoting as anyone could hope to do. I've never, ever, seen a coating that can hold up to the friction created by heavy chopping.

LOL You are welcome to disagree but I can promise you that blade was clean INFI under the coating, way cleaner in fact than under the regular paint coatings.
Do you have any idea how dirty and abrasive Douglas Fir bark is? I do, it's like slightly softer coral reef when it scrapes things and those pictures vouch for it. The coating did not wear much if any when chopping nice clean 2x4's or peeled logs, but I live in the woods and not in a lumber yard, so those pictures are accurate depictions of real world chopping use of a properly cerakoted blade in the woods where trees have a tough, thick skin to protect them from crazy animals like us and fire. :) For the record, my cerakoted firearms that I don't beat on trees yet get used/holstered/bumped in the same woods still look pretty much like brand new, so keep in mind that the application of the coating is not nearly as important as how the end product is used. ;)

I personally feel cerakote is overated. There are some good paint coatings out there. Cerakoted items tend to withstand heat more from my experience. As far as blades go....kinda a personal preference I guess. Another different I would say is cerakote may also have a slick feel to it compared to a crinkle coating. But all in all...I'd say it would wear just the same as a regular CG blade. Cerakote may not strip well....but it sands off easier than a coating. .....well it did on my suppressor that is.

^Agreed

Aztimt, have you ever try stripping cerakote?

It won't chemically strip with anything I have on hand, but it sure sands off easy enough. :)

There's pictures on here somewhere of a used CG FBM with that finish.

Wore a little but it looked spectacular to me. 👍

Regards,
Dicko.

In short, it does hold up, but not for a long time:

I think ZMBHNTR got some nice pics of Aged Bronze CGFBM, But theyre in the woods this weekend beating on INFI in the woods lol

I dont have any cerakoted Busses, but if it's anything like Fällkniven or if cerakote is universal in form regardless of brand, no, it will not hold up to chopping.

It will also stain food and has a "waxy" or "crayon" feel to it.

Gunkote is king. Excellent coating.
