Does crimping work on single-strand wire?

..or is it for multi-strand wire only? If so, why? Not enough friction?

I found some stainless steel wire (I think that's what it is, and not nitinol or anything like that) and it won't take the Haywire Twist, as it is not pliable. It's very springy, but it's not pliable. It has a tough time even staying coiled. It is VERY kink-resistant, so I imagine it behaves like Titanium wire in that regard.

If crimping does work, what size and type of sleeve would you recommend? Maybe two sleeves instead of one? The wire is 0.020 inches in diameter.

Thanks

Try clipping forceps on the tag end of the wire.
Hold the lure or hook with the wire by the eye in one hand and the running end of the wire in the other.
The tag end and forceps should be hanging down.
Swing the forceps around the running wire 6-10 times* Try and keep the twists close to the eye of the hook, and see if that'll hold.

*Don't whack yourself in the nose. :)
