Does CRK use D-2?

Okay, I've been wondering about this for a while.

I talked to a guy at a shop a while ago, and after looking at the CRK Tanto in the display case, remember him telling me that CRK uses D-2 in the smaller fixed blades, A-2 in the larger ones. I could have sworn that all of the one-piece line were made with A-2?

Am I mistaken, or was he? It's not really an important issue, but I was just curious since I don't remember hearing anything about D-2 previous to this conversation. Thanks!

We have been using A2 since February 1987 for all of our one piece fixed blade knives. Knives made prior to that date would have been from D2.

There have been some rare occasions where we have departed from above but these are so few and far between that they don't warrant consideration. I rather think the dealer was spinning you a line - but maybe he just got the wrong end of the stick from somewhere (and, believe me, that happens!!)
