There is a website said they have a Taiwan version Commander. This version has a steel liner and the screws in the handle are philips type.

They said this version is made for Taiwan's SOCOM unit. Is it true?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "No, Emerson does not make a special steel linered version of the Commander specifically for the Taiwanese Special Forces" :D

There are plenty of Taiwanese/Chinese ripoffs of the Commander. Or they may have mistaken the Ti liners for Steel.

Most EKI products are currently shipped with Phillips head screws. Some early (1998/1999) Commanders did leave with flatheaded screws, but they are the exception rather then the rule.

I have to go out on the same limb and say Emerson does'nt make a Tiawan SF knife like that. Emerson is however making some new products in Seki City Japan marketed under Emerson Hard Wear. The first three models are the Reliant, Traveler, and Endeaver. They are rocker-lock,zytel handled knives similar to the Benchmade acsent series, but the steel of choice is AUS-8A. But I hav'nt heard of a steel liner Commander.:) :D  :)
