Does GEC put a "clear coat" on their linen micarta.....or just polish....or what?

I just wondered does GEC put something like a "clear coat" on the Micarta when it's done? I ask because my green linen micarta Bull Nose seems almost shiny like it is more than just polish.

Any ideas?

David, I'm not sure as I have the Canvas versus Linen but I wish I would've pulled the trigger on yours when it was on the exchange

If I had to guess I'd say it's the adhesive in the Linen giving it that gloss look

Just the polish, it will get quite glossy.

Thanks guys. So I wonder if I ever sanded the micarta if I could just polish it again? You think I could polish it by hand or would it require rouge and a buffing wheel?

Check out this thread and notice the difference in the Canvas Micarta and Linen Micarta in the close up pics. You can polish Linen Micarta but not Canvas Micarta. If you polish Canvas Micarta you can't get the polishing compound out of the Canvas Micarta.

Use 2000 grit wet sanding paper and go from there. You don't want to over-heat/burn the epoxy resin that bonds the linen together.
