Does HI make Custom Knives?

That's a loaded question. There are various individual definitions of custom knives. HI is in the manufacturers' section of Bladeforums.

That said, they've done a number of special orders for me, to my specs.

Yes they do.
This Vim Custom was made for me but now it belongs to 7rip13a in Oz.
 
I was told that they do but was also told that you will have to wait half a year or longer to get it.

Ah, but that gives you the pleasure of six months of anticipation. Isn't that better than having a triangular box arrive two days after you place a regular order?

Six month wait is a sinking feeling, especially when you finally make it to the six month mark and your still waiting. Believe me, I know. It's not funny. No, I don't want to talk about it.

I'm assuaged by the WIP pics as i go. It basically test you on how MUCH you like a blade/knife/cutlery/axe/chainsaw...
You sound like you did spend on waiting for one.
I know Andrew Demko and Daniel Winkler are booked at least till 2014.
A lot of times you will spent closing that over-stretched jaw whenever the custom shows up.
My Rajkumar Bhanduk is one.

I know Bro. I've waited years before, thats what we do. I was just throwin that out all scary because thats what they wanted. The one I'm waiting on now is a VEC hawk. Order placed Oct 11, 2011. It's a 34"er with a Bug Hawk head. He says its the longest one he's ever made. I've got a lot of #1 1st run knives from some old guys like Fehrman, Gossman, RMJ, Winkler, Fairley, JK. That's some waitin time! I like doin the custom order thing sometimes. Plus, there's plenty of knives to get while your waitin.
 
I'm more unsure about doing custom ordering because I don't know where I will be a year down the road, be it a new place to live, a new country, no access to internet to update them, etc. I would do a custom order if it's within a month or two at most but as that does not seem to happen all that much...
