Hello,

I'm trying to research information over many years on a popular subject. The search result only return the first few pages of hits. No features are there to provide a time bracket so...

Any ways to expend the amount of result found?

Thanks

I don't believe paid subscriptions affect search results.

What and how you search can.

Are you using the Advanced Search or simply typing it into the search bar?

I generally get the best results by going to Advanced Search. You then have two options Search Multiple Content Types (default setting) and Search Single Content Types.

Using Search Single Content Types give you more options to search with which can narrow down where you search to what is relevant.

For example, if you're looking for a Spyderco Military for sale and use Multiple, it will pull up threads and/or posts from all over the forums. By using Single you can search in only the Exchange Forums.

Thanks for your reply.

I've played a lot with the different options and approach. I'm really seeking for more results and I guess I'm out of luck.

I have no clue how VBulletin works but it doesn't seems (from quick reading the manual) that the amount of hits capping is an easy up front config parameter for the admin to decide.

After a look at vbulletin.org I found few threads regarding MySQL tweaks but I'm not allowed to view them as I'm not registered there. I guess increasing the amount of hits would require to touch the code beyond the config GUI.

I'm not sure how they have things setup here (or if this is a site adjustable feature); but, on a vBulletin site I moderate, the limit is 200. (Two hundred posts/threads by a person, results on a search, etc.) To get beyond that, one has to narrow the search parameters in order to get the most out of those 200 hits.
