Does it have potential?

I have been wanting to make a knife for my wood supplier for awhile now and decided to draw one out tonight between glueing up handles. He is a hunter and wanted an all around woods/hunting knife. There are so many specific uses for knives when hunting so one knife can't do them all. He wanted something bigger so this is what I have come up with. Im sure it will change after I profile it out but here is the basic design.
around 4 3/4 handle, 4" blade, a little ricasso. The handle starts a little under an inch wide at the ricasso and stays around an inch to the butt where it gets a little bigger. What ya think? Its a bigger version of the necker with more belly. I will round off the butt edges when profiling like the necker.

Chris, great style, big handle for us "bigger" fellas, & all around useful blade length . . . . . can't wait to see the finished product . . . .
Any idea on the wood yet ???
Be safe.

Thanks guys, I kinda like the looks of it. Ill profile one out and see how it feels. There is a story behind the wood that will be used on this knife. My supplier, Mike, usually sells to luthiers. Thats why I get bookmatched boards instead of scales most of the time. I give him an option for smaller boards and cutoffs so it helps him make a little money on wood not big enough for guitars. He had a bookmatched pair of Honey Locust Crotch wood that he was going to dry out and sell as a killer guitar. Well, while drying it cracked so he cut it down. He said over the past 7 years it coninued to crack in places so he had to keep cutting it down. Whats left is a set of scales about 1/2" thick a piece. They are stable now and he wants to use them on this knife. I got them in the mail yesterday and they are spectacular! I can't really tell how they will turn out but they are really different.

Now were getting the flow i knew you would eventually get to in your career! Keep it up buddy! Very nice

wow that would be unique, matching knives and instruments!

I have a friend in TN who bow hunts wild turkey, I wonder what knife he would prefer... (I have been thinking about that a lot lately, his birthday is in April or so...)

i like it...i was thinking that handle looked familiar and then i read it had some inspiration from the neck knife. Can't wait to see how it comes out
