Does it need lube?

What a funny title, right? Let the dirty jokes commence! Anyways, I have a CF Caly3 and took it apart and cleaned/loctited it up again today. It's all adjusted, just letting the loctite dry. Do you guys recommend oiling it? I think i have in the past, but oil attracts dirt, and if it's not needed on a washer-less knife, i won't run it with oil. This is the only knife without washers that i own besides SAK's, so I'm not 100% familiar with the maintenance requirements.

How about a dry lube?
There are several Teflon and graphite dry lubes that would do the trick for all of those that fear the dirt buildup of a wet lube.
Personally I just clean the knife with RemOil and blow it out when it gets dirty and use a drop of Tuf-Glide on the pivot. Takes all of 2 minutes and is good as new.

I just took some wet graphite lube I had in the garage which is used for sticky locks and used it. It will evaporate leaving behind the graphite powder. Hopefully that works fine. Never thought of a dry lube.

The upside is that it won't not work. It will make things slippery but graphite is a little messy if not used sparingly. Just a drop or two should do the trick. Give us a little review.
I've got a few different dry Teflon lubes, maybe I'll give it a try on my last washerless model. The Persian. I think it's washerless, if I remember correctly.

10 weight nano oil. A small amount makes a HUGE difference.

I was hoping for good results on my SB Caly 3 and Nano Oil, but so far it is literally the same as before. I made sure to clean it thoroughly before using the Nano Oil, too. I will be watching this thread for sure.

As long as you keep the bearing surfaces clean they will continue to break in smoother and smoother. I have Spyderco lockbacks from the early 90's that are glassy smooth. I won't typically lube them unless it is a dry teflon or other type lube. To me it's more important to keep the grit out as that is what will spoil the process up. With a good dry lube a can of air or compressor is all that is usually needed.

Unlike firearms or combustion engines there is not going to be much problems with bearing surfaces on lock back knives.

When I carried a Caly 3 I used a very thin layer of CRK lube on it. There's not enough room in the pivot area to let a lot of stuff get in there. I carried mine for a couple of years. Took it apart a couple of times but never found much gunk in the pivot, just old CRK lube.

I have crk grease as well. Normally I use hoppes gun oil in my knives but this one doesn't have much room for a thicker oil to run into. So I did a drop of the graphite lube and wiped the rest away before it could evaporate. So whatever it's on is where it needs to be. No mess so far and it's nice knowing there's some type of lube between the metals. Maybe I'll try crk grease next, but I rarely take this knife down. It's on the smaller side of my EDC, but definitely the most comfortable one I carry.

Maybe it doesn't NEED lube but a dry lube like Froglube won't attract link and will make a huge difference! Add a tiny speck of Nano Oil on each washer and you'll be amazed at how smooth it is!

I find that everything is better with lube :D

It's washer less :-)

Oops! I've owned a Caly 3 cf briefly but sold it in lieu of my preferred Sage 1.

Well I'm sure the lube could be applied to where the blade makes contact with the handle to accomplish the same effect?

I used Nano-Oil on my Tasman Salt (washer-less) and it became noticeably smoother!
