does it work to black cable damascus

My question is does it help cable damascus to black the blade as they do on other damascus blades.I just finished this boot knife and wondered if it would look better blacked.Thanks......Bruce

since all of the material is the same in cable blacking of the blade would turn it all dark it would look best the way you have it

I know that when you use gun black on regular damascus you sand the high points to make them shine would that work on the cable to give it more caracter...just a question that I've always wondered..Bruce

I think it looks fine just the way it is. Since the materials in it are so similar you're not going to get much contrast between them in my opinion.

Im having the same dillemma with my Damascus. When I etch my blades, they lose a lot of contrast. Personally, from your photo,I'd leave this blade the way it is. It looks great.
