Does Kershaw Do Blade Upgrades?

I've heard that Buck, in the recent past, would replace the blade on a 110 with a new one of high grade steel, for a nominal fee.

Will Kershaw do this? I have a Whirlwind with 440a steel. I see the new ones coming out with Sandvik steel. I'd like to try the new steel without getting a whole new knife, since I know that I really like the whirlwind (except for the steel).

I wonder how much it would cost?

Thanks,

-John

As a rule they don't do steel upgrades because they don't do sales to individuals, just distributors.

Look around on e-Bay and you should be able to find some Sandvik Whirlwinds for quite a low price. No need to bother with blade upgrading.

Thanks, fellas. Bummer, I was hoping.

Messersmith; I wasn't clear on that from reading the posts in the Buck forum. It sounded like the service was discontinued for a period of time, to resume in mid-'07. However, I didn't see an update as to whether it had resumed.

No 13C26 Whirlind's made to date, the change over will be made soon though.

It's not very clear in the Buck forum sticky but the general understanding seems to be that blade changes are history.
