Does Lone Wolf Still Have Quality Problems?

Hi guys,
I'm considering a Lone Wolf Harsey T-1 with carbon fibres scales .It looks like a pretty nice knife for the price, but after doing some searches on the forum, I learned there were some QC issues. Is this still the case? Does anyone carry the T-1? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Othere knives I'm considering are the Benchmade Sequel 707 and the Kershaw G10 Leek. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Haven't seen a T-1, but I have had a dozen T2s and Large Rangers. No problems with any of them that was discussed in the past.

I had a T-1 briefly. Fit and Finish were acceptable, however the liner would migrate to opposite side with cutting pressure. I exchanged for a BM HK34FDP, and have been happy ever since. The BM is a much higher quality knife than the Lone wolf IMHO.

I actually received my Vallotton Scale release DA in the mail today. Doesn't work in automatic mode. The spring doesn't reset when you close the knife, so pushing the scale down to fire it does nothing. Going to return it to the online dealer.

Three months ago a guy reported in a German knife forum that of the two Lone Wolf Harsey Folder he had ordered form the US both were delivered with functional and cosmetic defects:

The blade of the T2 Ranger came without an edge:eek: and the left scale of the T3 Ranger didn't fit to the liner. The coating of both blades wore off rather fast.

After he put an edge on the T2, the guy used both knives for heavy cutting and liked the way they performed immensely. Others reported that their Lone Wolf Rangers were flawless.

So I guess it's better to handle a Lone Wolf before buying it.

I got a T-1 about a week ago. It's on it's way back to Lone Wolf Co. When I bought it the blade was a little off center, not too bad, I can put up with that! After a few days of opening and closing the blade was starting to touch the liner. I emailed them and they said to send it to them, so I did. I'll let you how it is when it gets back.

The carbon fiber was chipped on almost all the drilled holes for the pivot screws and the holes for the frame screws. Just a bit of sloppy work if you ask me. Maybe I should have got the wood handle!

i bought a double-duty bout 6 months ago.

i accidently fired the spring while the blade was already open. after that the liner wouldnt lock when firing the blade.
the spring would go too far and inhibit the lock from crossing over.

sent it back and got another one. and the same thing happend.

i just ended up putting small bevels on the liner and the spring, so they could pass each other. now it works perfectly fine every time. even when i fire the spring with the blade already out.

You got THAT straight!

I got what seemed to be a helluva deal on a T-2 off the internet a couple weeks ago, but when it arrived, it was clear that the lock had *major* issues. At first, it just slipped a bit, but never let go, and passed the heel-of-my-shoe spine whack test; but after less than a week of on-and-off carry, it got to the point where I could grab the handle and blade, and just fold it closed like a stiff slipjoint!

It's on it's way to Lone Wolf right now. I'll follow up with what send me back...

I own a city knife that's virtually perfect. But just a week ago I picked up a jeff d'angelo at a show that was rubbing the back scale on opening ($200+ knife). It had already marked the surface of the back scale. Brought it to the attention of the dealer, but they offered no response, not even a discounted price, though I didn't ask for one. I'd also say inspect before buying.
