Does Moki get enough attention?

I have decided my next knife purchase will be the large Moki Kronos. I watch a lot of knife reviews and while i've never seen anything bad said about their knives, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on them. I know they make a lot of Spyderco knives, and i don't think Spyderco would employ their services if the quality wasn't top notch. The only thing that I can think of, as to why they don't receive more props is that they are kind of limited in what they offer. All their knives I've seen are lockbacks, with the exception of one fixed blade, and all their entire product line would be catagorized as a gentleman's knives. To be honest, they look to me to have the best fit and finish of any knife in their price range. They are also unbelieveably sharp out of the box and most come with vg 10 steel. Maybe the trend in knife reviews and knife collecters is more toward tactical blades and thats fine, but I would like to continue to see knife reviews of all types of knives in all price ranges though. As to Moki, they are the only lockback that I have found that has absolutely no blade play at all and the over all quality is better than a lot of other knives that cost much more. Thanks for reading and for any who may respond:)

Moki also makes the Al Mar Ultralight series, and probably a few others. I suspect that they made the Kershaw Gentleman's knife. I have one of these and fit and finish is superb. Better than any other factory knife I've handled or own. Vids I've watched of Moki knives are similar. Moki does NOT get enough attention, and they make good knives. I would not hesitate to buy one. I'm considering a Fish Owl.

I think the same can also be said about other Japanese companies like G.Sakai and Mcusta but I'm not really sure why they don't warrant more interest.

I've had a few made for Spyderco, and they've also made knives for many others. I prefer their lockback over any other I've had.

I bought this Moki 120MM Blakiston's Fish Owl not long ago and the F&F is better than any lockback I've had, and at a good price.
Its opens smooth as silk, and the lock is very smooth and easy to work. You can't even see where the blade meets the lockbar when open unless you hold it under light at just the right angle.

I'm pretty sure Moki made the Fallkniven TK4 I bought recently too. I love the design, and its very well made, but you can see were the blade meets the lockbar when open. Not as smooth as the Fish Owl either, but its still very smooth.

Sorry I don't have a better pic.

I have heard of G.Sakai but not handled them. I have a couple of Mcusta's and like them a lot as well. I think the over all quality of the moki's are a bit better though. I have found some Mcusta's where the blade centering is a bit off, not always, but sometimes. I find it appealing that Mcusta has a very Japanese look to them. Their sharpness like the Moki's are unbelieveable.

My one and only Moki is a Serapis (I do have a Moki-made Al Mar Ultralight Eagle though--very well-built.) The Serapis is exquisite. The scales are beautiful checkered black and gold lip pearl and it is a demon of a slicer. Wish I had a better photo to offer...

Do you really think Moki made the TK4? Doesn't the TK4 have proprietary SGPS steel? I don't think Fallkniven would allow Moki the rights to their powder steel, just curious.

I have a TK4 & FH9. The FH9 is upmarket, & has better walk & talk than the TK4.
I don't know who made them, but I thought all Fallkniven were made in Japan, of Japanese steel.
My TK4 has 3G steel, which I think is an interchangeable term with SGPS

That's a beauty! I have The Blossom, which has a similar blade and handle shape.

Fallkniven has their folders made in Japan, including the steel. They only design them, and do a really great job at that.
I've heard it was Moki, but I'm not positive. It could be one of the other two in Japan.

I have a Moki Lakota Teal in turquoise and onyx and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's the nicest gentleman's knife I own as far as fit and finish goes.

Just curious: How can you tell if a Spyderco knife is made by Moki? I know they make the Caly3/3.5, but that's all I know about.

The SGPS isn't a proprietary steel to Fällkniven.
It's made in Japan by Takefu Special Steels.
I believe Moki is the maker of the Fällkniven folders.

To be honest, I don't know. I have heard the calys are made by moki, plus some others. I don't know which others though. I don't know if spyderco make this information public or not.

It's looks like they focus highly on quality and not on fancy added utility items (fingernail slot for opening blade verses thumb stud or cut out, lockback verse other fancy lockup system, ect.). It definitely seems like this company is the underdog when it comes to wide spread advertising as their website (their webpage is nothing fancy 2 pages and photos with basic info) was a ways down the page when I did a google search with a dozen or more posts in this forum and a few other websites ahead of it.

I will definitely consider these knifes when I purchase for my father in law as these are very gentlemen like in styling, clean and crisp, with very little distractions from functional purposes.

Thanks for sharing OP as I probably would have gone a longer time without knowing about Moki knives as well.

Merry Christmas!

Fallkniven has never made a knife afaik. The knives have never been made in sweeden either. Their steel technology is japanese as well. If you read their fine print, Fallkniven claims to design their knives, test and market them.

I'v seen the moki kronus once, its a nice knife, very well built and with the bone and bolsters, it has a good solid feeling

Yes, and afaik it's Moki who is the sub-contractor for the folders and Hattori makes the fixed models.
These two, Moki and Hattori are two of the top makers of production knives in the world today.
