I was starting up my comp this morning. After using it for a while, a black rat showed up in the lower right box (tool bar) on the desktop and then dissapeared. Its only happened once since. Should i be worried. Any info would greatly be appreciated.

OK, I'd take the advice given so far -
scan for Virus, and
I also suggest a SpyWare scan -
this could be an application installed without your knowledge.

However a very slight chance, or just a mere coincidence -
today (Thur Feb/7) is Chinese New Years Day -
and it is the year of the Rat......
maybe some application on your PC is being festive or humorous?

Do the virus scans suggested and then invest in an anti spyware/adware software. You may want to upgrade your firewall while you're at it.

Good advice -

ConsumerSearch on AntiVirus

ConsumerSearch on AntiSpyware

ConsumerSearch on FireWalls

I like ConsumerSearch as they claim to be reviewing the reviews -
ie: survey the reviews, rate them - then come to some concensus.

Logically this would be how to do research if we had the resources.

download a program called cureit by dr web which can be found by using goodle. when you start the program it will start scanning your system doing a pre scan. then when its done you click full scan. if a box pops up stopping the scan, its usually a trojan or virus and this should be deleted. if it finds something that could possibly be a trojan or virus it will list it in the scanner window but it wont stop the scan. these items should be googled to find out what they are. if you have any questions feel free to pm or email me.

Thnks for all the help guys. Even though i suck with computers, im doing some scans right now. And seeing what i can find/do.
Thnks
Matt
