Does Paid Membership Level Affect Photo Posting?

I'm a Basic member and though the system seems to be set up to pull pictures out of my computer I'm getting a lot of "Oops, we ran into a problem."

It seems I have to reduce the pics to a very small size to have any luck at all and they don't look very good when posted here.

I'm wondering if this is due to my membership level?

Try what Dadpool suggests here at the very first post that Spark wrote up (link inside the quote). Also use that thread to practice in too.

I don’t have the same level membership as you do, but if I’m reading Sparks posting correctly, your paid membership level has no bearing at all on the size of the pictures you can directly post to BF. However, BF has a size limit that is listed in the below link (first post).

Your oops error means it’s over the size limit for BF to host for you. Use the resizing link that Spark provides in his post if your still having sizing problems. Again, practice in that thread too, that’s what it there for.

Check out the first post in this thread, and then use that thread to test it out.

Hmmmmmm. I'm low on tech expertise but something weird is going on I think.......

Like the last pic I posted........I made it smaller and smaller and it still wouldn't post when I tried to load it direct from my computer as normal (that 'click here' thing).

But when I just copy and pasted it it came through ok.

But I still see other people with Gold memberships posting much larger pics.

I wonder if when they talk about "attachments" they mean pictures?

I know my membership allows me to post photos directly from BF, but honestly I find it tidier to organize my photos into albums on Imgur and just link to them in my posts here. I've been doing this for years and have never had a glitch, and I can make my photos whatever size I want (I keep them reasonable, for folks on slower connections -- and because massive, two-screens-high photos are kind of annoying).

Well, the "Basic" says, "Bare bones membership that allows avatars, signatures, limited attachments and private messaging."

I wonder if the "limited attachments" is what's causing my difficulties with pictures?

I can't seem to have reliable success from computer to here, so it will have to be from computer to Imgur to here. Extra steps, but good pictures.

I’m glad you stuck it out and kept on trying, your last practice picture (practice thread) was just the size you were looking for. You should be all good to go now.

If it makes you feel any better..... I can't figure out the pictures Here either.
Gold membership doesn't make it any easier.
The only way I've got it to work has been through outside posting sites.

I guess there's a glitch in the process of posting direct from our own computers.

Imgur is working for me. It's an extra step, but it's a fairly simple process.

Same.... I wasn't frustrated until I joined BushcraftUSA during the update here.
Their format is pretty much the same as here on BF.... but posting pics there actually is easy.
I'm a paid member Here, but not there.
