Does Paypal take their percent of the sale right after the transaction is made?

I've sold some things not here but on the auction site and after the buyer completes payment see that the amount they paid for isn't in my Paypal balance. Like on a $80 purchase the amount was $3 less than the price in the listing that show up in the PP balance. Does anybody know if that is just Paypal taking their fee's from the sale immediately or why that would be?

Yes, that is how Paypal makes their money. I believe they charge around 3 percent.

Yeah knew about the 3%, only rescently been seening that they been taking it immediately though. Didn't know for sure it was them. Just been slipping by me i guess.Usually have other $ in the PP balance to so maybe just noticed it this time that they take it right away cause their was nothing in their the til sale was made and could tell there was money missing. But anyways Thanks. Was just worried it something else.
