Does Rat make the orange RC-3 with a black blade?

Hey guys,

Can't seem to find out if they do or not.

I really dislike the look of the OD green blade with the orange G10 handles on the RC3's.

Do/can they make them with black blades instead? Has rat ever made them without the coating at all?

Black and orange is only as a special edition, from what I've seen. I've seen plenty of user mods where the coating has been stripped, but I don't think you can just buy one like that
 
The RAT Pack knife was an RC-3 with black coating and orange handles. But I think they are all spoken for. As CID mentioned, you could always strip the green coating off.
 
The handles should be interchangeable right? You could get the OD and orange, and black and grey and swap handles. The OD blade would look sweet with the grey micarta handles

To expensive :p

That's really a downer though, that black blade with orange g10 would be the deciding factor for me.

Really wish they offered that. What a shame :mad:

Edit: I am super disappointed i missed out on the rat pack knives. They looked great.
 
When swapping, the scales don't always line up perfectly. I've been able to carefully line up all of my swaps, but milage may vary. Another idea, I believe the rc4 and rc3 share scales. Get a second opinion on this, but it may be the way to go for you. Then you get two great knives :).

Well, way back at the beginning, RAT posed a sort of poll on what colors to go with what, and people wanted the OD/Orange over the Black/OD -- said it looked "too halloween".

I thought Black/Orange and OD/Green canvas would have ruled, but we see how that went. ;)

To the OP, now please revisit your original post. Come now, re-read it. Think about it carefully. Does the color of a coating really mean that much to you? I'm not going to start calling you names or anything, but should that really be the deciding factor for a blade of this caliber? The coating is going to wear off eventually anyhow.

Besides - you can vent your hostility towards Texastony....He's the brainchild between OD/Orange.
 
I've swapped scales between my OD/Orange G10 and Black/Black Micarta RC3s and my Black/Black Micarta RC4. All scales fit between knives and all either fit perfectly or are so close that it's almost unnoticeable. Right now I'm really digging my OD RC3 with black micarta and my Black RC4 with Orange G10.

I'm also digging my new OD Izula and EdgePro Apex I got for Christmas. Just had to throw that in.:D
 
Buy a RC-3 and strip it. There are enough threads on this process by now.KGD has it right. Is a black coated blade really that essential??
 
I'm not THAT picky, but it would have been really nice. Does anyone have the link of the tutorial to take the coat off?

Yeah I know.....

They are hand fitted, but Ive never heard of anyone who had an issue with them not working.....

We could always swap back if it doesnt work...Then you still have a Blk RC3 with micarta....Anyways, your call if ya decide you wanna give it a try you can shoot me an email whenever you are wanting....
