Does Sandvik have any rust issues?

I am asking this because I just got 2 of my web specials in today and my Ergo boning avid as a couple spots of rust on it. Does sanvik have a rust issue? I don't think I have ever had a knife come straight from the factory with rust specs on the blade? The boning knife and ergohunter will be my first sandvik buck blades. I know that the spots are small but the knife has a 12/12/13 date on it, and has rust in 7 days coming from the factory? Any thoughts?

All steel has the possibility of rust. I have found that the Sandivic does rust just as easily as any other steel, even though it is supposed to be more rust resistant than average 420Hc. I have found that I like 420Hc better than all of the other "up graded/up charged" steels.

I found that the finish makes quite a difference. A more polished finish resists rust more easily than a bead-blasted or rough machined finish.
But I haven't had any problems with Sandvik steel so far, not more than other steels anyway.
The only steel that I have never seen rusting is the one Victorinox uses.

Are you sure that's rust? Trying using a pencil's eraser on those spots. That steel is not know to have staining concerns. My Victorinox didn't either. DM

I tried the eraser and it did not work. Stains or rust are still there.

I agree with mbj ( post 2 ) . 420hc with the Buck heat treat has no flaws, no weakness . And futher, the cost fits my pocketbook.
