Spyderco. When I first got into decent knives. I couldn't see anything attractive about them. But someone convinced me to get a Spydie first, and since then three out of six knife purchases have been Spydercos.

With me it is the mini autos and assisted openers. I started out only wanting to collect the more traditional folders with wood handles and did not care for the more "modern" knives but in the last week I have ordered an SOG TwitchII and 2 Kershaw Scallions (to have engraved for me and my business partner as EDC blades) and I am hoping to find a pro tech Stinger available and maybe buy a benchmade Benchmite. Who needs money for food. I could stand to miss a few meals anyway.

When Busse first started advertising their Ergo-handled series, I thought that they were incredibly ugly compared to the earlier Busses, and said no way that I would ever buy one. Then much later I found a real steal on a NO-E and bought it. It was love at first grip! I now have about 30 E-handled Busses.

Emerson knives. Didn't understand why someone would want one, and heard their quality was sub-par. Well, got one and have been into them ever since.

The only two knives I've ever wanted on first sight by the by, were Darren Chard's Satin Wheels, and Tim Galyean's Junkyard Dawg.

I have to agree with Madcap, Spyderco knives were my least favorite knife design until I started reading some of the threads here. Then I saw a Native in a Catalog a few months ago and wanted one.

I carry it all the time and will probably buy a higher end model some day.
