Does Spyderco use the lockback as their main knife lock?

If so how do you like the locks used on the spyderco's you own and do you feel confident with using them?

Truthfully, of all the lockbacks I own, not a one has ever failed me. Spyderco's lockback is good. I like the Cold Steel Tri Ad a whole lot more though.

It is perfect. NEVER failed me. Extremely fast to open and easy to close.

so spyderco only uses the lockback mechanism? i ask because i like the lockbacks and believe less parts are less things to go wrong with a lock.

I don't really know if it could be said that it is their "main" lock, not in the same vein as say BM's AXIS or CS Tri-ad, but I have not had any issues with my Spyderco lockback, a nishijin Dragonfly2. Admittedly tho I'm am hardly a "hard" user either.

I have Spyderco's with lockback, linerlock, and compression locks. They are all executed very well, and I feel very confident with using them.

I don't like backlocks very much, but even I say Spyderco makes a darn good lockback. Once you break them in they become very fast and smooth. As for reliabilty, a good friend of mine has been using a first gen Police for nearly 20 years without ever experiencing a single failure.

thats what i've been hearing is that they are reliable. i'm not ready for an axis lock.

You heard right then. I've had an Endura(a lockback) since the early 90's and the lock is as smooth as silk, and as reliable as it was the day I bought it.
Don't worry one bit about their locks.
The Delica is a great little knife.

So far, I only own one Spyderco lockback, the Calypso. Its lock inspires confidence. Solid lockup, no play in any direction. I dunno if it's as strong as their caged ball lock or compression lock, but it should be plenty strong for anything you should be doing with a folding knife.
