Does Strider make a left handed SMF?

Does anyone know if Strider has made or is planning on making any lefty SMF's for us southpaws?

This isn't very encouraging. I am really wanting a lefty SMF as a hard use duty knife. I am a lefty but shoot right handed so I still prefer to have my knife on the left pocket in case it needs to be used for weapons retention. I checked out badlands and they keep stringing some of the folks along with the promise of a lefty SNG. Kinda like the mythical Busse folder.

have you checked out an AR or GB ? the newer generations are ambi... they aren't framelocks but there are zero stories of them failing...

laCie: THAT is a BRILLIANT idea!! They are excelent knives!! I have had both, and they ARE built like tanks!! I highly recommend an AR or GB; you can't go wrong!! They ARE a big, hefty, built like a tank knife!!

That's the only reason I don't have a Strider yet. I've heard so many good things about them, but I refuse to shell out that kind of money for the wrong hand.

I'd love to see a left handed version.

Great knives as well. They just don't do it for me like the SMF.

I have (I believe) read from Strider themselves that a lefty SNG will be made...

In 2 weeks- just like the BUSSE folder :D . No, I think there's a dealer who's trying to get a special run done, but they've been working on that for a while.

As far as a heavy duty framelock, have you thought about going custom? You can get something nice from Hinderer, Lambert, Obenauf, and a few others for about the same as a Strider (though I'm not knocking Strider as that's my next knife purchase and I'm somewhat excited about it). My personal recommendation after handling a few examples of his knives recently would be to take a look at RJ Martin. The Devestator is a particularly stout, nasty blade that is just WAY too cool!

These aren't true ambi knives as they are set up as a right handed liner lock. The clip can be moved to left handed carry though. That being said, I carry a DDC AR left handed every day. I too shoot right handed and use a knife lefty. Haven't had any probs learning to open and close her left handed at all.
AR is on the right (liner lock), new RC on the left (frame lock)..........

I've asked them (the Strider guys) at knife shows if they would make a left hand folder. I didn't get a specific answer they just laughed at me. I took that as a no. When you're left handed you just learn to live without. I would however like to add a left hand SNG to my collection. Maybe someday.

where did you get the backspacer on your AR ? can you shoot me the info please ? thank you

There is still a thread on one forum floating around from the beginning of 04 promising a run of lefty blades, chances are it won't happen for a while, and even if it did, you ould have to keep your ear to the ground because they would be snapped up.
