Guys this questions has been bugging me for ages and I finally decided to ask the pro's. The 0350 has a detent without speedsafe so does its bigger brother have one too? Or do the parent's only like the younger one. New ones only too, not the one you brought 5 years ago and by new I mean in the past year or maybe this year.

Originally the torsion bar was the only means of closed retention.
I dunno if that has changed.

Still is. But, there is a ball. I'm guessing a skilled individual could drill a hole and make it work.

I'm sure it is possible, but I've searched before and strangely found nobody who had done it.
I know that even seasoned knifemakers have trouble setting detents perfectly every time.

I would be more interested in the knife if the steel liner (weight savings) and torsion bar were removed. Just my opinion.

I don't see where anyone added a detent, only that it should be possible.

Right. There's some info in there about how to do it. A friend of mine just removed the assist on his new 350, but I didn't get details. I would be real surprised if somebody hasn't done it. They'll probably even show up in this thread. My 300 and 350 are stock, and I'll probably just leave them that way. With that said, i like my manual ZT's better.

The 0350 can be de-assisted without problems because it actually has a detent hole. The upcoming 0770 will also be originally released with a detent hole, but they may not keep it. ZT seems to listen to the customers. :)

I don't see why some knife pimper couldn't add a hole, but like I said, even the pros don't get it perfect every time and they have much better tools than a Dremel.
