I'm going to make a lockback with New ATS34, its blanchard ground and I'm pretty sure its been anealed. Will I need to send the lock bar out to be heat treated with the blade? I plan on using a leaf spring and not making the lock bar and spring all in on piece. Thanks for all the help.

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

Thanks, I thought so but wasn't sure. I have abook by Ron Lake, Frank Centofante, and Wayne Clay that says to heat treat the bar, but they had springs that were part of the bar so I wasn't sure.

Look in your book in Wayne Clay's section. He uses a coil spring made of piano wire. Send your things to Rob Simonich for heat treat. He's done a great job for me and has a real nice turn around time. Take care! Michael

Thanks everybody.
L6,
I haven't decided on what type of spring yet, I like the coil sping you were talking about but it all depends on if I can find a spring that size diameter.

Matt, I bought some piano wire of the size recommended, but it didn't work for me. I must have wrapped it wrong or something. It's so easy to make the forked spring, I doubt I'll try the coil again.Let me know how it goes for you if you choose the coil spring! Take care!! Michael
