Does the Military get smoother?

I was wondering if the Military especially the DLC coated versions smooth out over time? Do they get extremely smooth or are they always somewhat stiff to open?

Stiff detent or stiff to actually open? Not much you can do about a strong detent, but you CAN adjust the pivot to smooth out the action.

I meant stiff opening not the detent strength that shouldn't be a problem with the thumb hole.

Every single Spyderco I've owned so far (other than my manbug) started out a little stiff and then smoothed out to perfection after a couple of weeks of using and opening it.

Yes a little stiff at first but mine are very smooth now, the DLC version that I have fly's open.

I found that mine was always smooth, but has gotten less stiff with time. I differentiate between the two personally. They can go hand in hand to a point, but the locking mechanism can make a difference. Lock-backs are almost always smooth, but because the lock bar rides the tang the whole time opening, it has more resistance. Having said that my Military is a tad stiffer than other Spyderco's I own. I have adjusted the pivot and gotten it less stiff but side to side play appeared. I can still flick it open like any other. I prefer a centered blade and tight lockup to ultimate ease of opening and closing.

Thanks for all the replies guys I'm glad to hear that because I've been drooling over the Military for a while now and I think I'll get one soon I just have to decide which version I want.
