Does the rucki have a Hamon?

Hi Rats!!
I believe the Waki has a Hamon, does anyone know if the rucki has one too?

My vote is for no as they are post the DHT perios I believe... but I don't have one or for the life of me have I seen a stripped one ??

Just was thinking the 1311 came out after the rucki and my 1311 has a Hamon, so was hoping some newer models did too.

Al, as far as I know no Dog had a hamon, as DHT would be upping the cost way beyond the Yard's budget approach.

Ruckis don't have the DHT either.
 
That's interesting. I ordered a dozen 1311's and the first delivery was different than the rest.
I will post pics of my stripped first shipment 1311 tomorrow. It appears to have a Hamon and an additional hump in the grind before the saber. My others were different without that extra bevel, but I never stripped any of those.

Might be machining 'leftover'. I have one of the 2013BS Rodents 5, it seems to have additional bevel 2/3 way up the primary grind. No idea why.
 
Sorry for the delay, can you guys see it real close along the edge?







 
There seem to be two bands of lighter color, one thin one on the edge and one more about half way up the grind. Interesting variation there

The Rats that I've had that were differentially treated all have a much wider band of hardened steel.

Only people that could give a definitive answer are Dan, Jerry, or Hindsight.
 
I don't think that's a hamon on the 1311. Would be cool if it was, as I also have an early one, but I'd happily put money on it not being. Early wakis were DHTed. Later ones were not - I have a satin one from a Ganza and it is not DHTed. I don't think any ruckis are DHTed.

I just saw a thread where a 1311 chipped out... The chip seemed to stop at the top of the line I see about 3/16" along the edge. Seems like that area is harder, cause the chip stopped there.

There have been three or four 1311s with almost identical damage (except for the one that broke in half). It would be interesting if all the chips stayed below that line. I'll look for some of the other pictures.
 
Not to derail the thread but my beloved 1311 sure does chip the edge easily. Are the 1311s known to have this problem? I've had a few big dogs and a few big rats but none have chipped as easily. Nothing major for now but I haven't really beaten on her.
