Does this knife exist? If so, please help me find it.

I figure there are enough knife "nuts" and experts around here that if the knife I'm looking for (or something really close) actually exists, you guys will know about it!

Here's what I am looking for:

Small fixed blade knife to be worn on a Lanyard around the neck hung upside-down and attached to the lanyard via the sheath (rather than the knife).

Must Have:
-----------
Blade length of 2" to 4".
Some type of sheath retention other than just tension (i.e a strap/snap retainer or something similar).
A single edge (it cannot be double-edged as these are illegal to carry where I live).
I must have a normal handle (Palm-style knives are also illegal where I live).
Price tag of less than $100 US.

Prefer:
-----------
Completely smooth blade (no serrations).
Drop point or sclip point blade shape.
Corrsion/rust resistant (it will be spending a lot of time under water... mostly fresh water and maybe some limitted exposure to salt water).
Extremely lightweight (the lighter the better).
Good quality (not custom but rather just something along the lines of a SOG or a lower-end Benchmade).
The hardest possible steel I can get while still meeting all other criteria (I usually buy RC 58-60 and would love to come as close to this as possible but all other criteria take precedence).
Price tag of less than $50 US (willing to spend $100 but prefer $50 or less since it's going to see some very hard use and there is a good chance it will get lost at the bottom of the lake and need to be replaced maybe once/year... hopefully not more often :D ).

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read the thread and share your expertise!!

Well, you might look at the Columbia River Ryan Plan B. It's got all the features you want except the rentention strap and I believe they can be had for around $35 - 40. You have the option of ordering the model with or without serrations at most online knife stores that I've seen. I actually got mine at a B&M, but I still only paid about $45 for it and it's a great little knife for the money.

If you find a knife that has everything you want with the exception of the sheath just send the knife to Bob Dozier and have him make a custom neck hanging kydex sheath for it.

He could make the knife too but not for under 100 bucks.

Thanks guys. I decided to go with the CRKT-F4 due to it's (IMO) great size/weight ratio (1.3oz...very nice), decent steel and and the fact that it has all of my other required/desired features minus the sheath's retention method. I will have to modify the sheath or create a new one since the one that comes with it is way to bulky for my purposes and the retention method is not what I desire. Other than that it's perfect and for $17 I can certainly live with the fact that I need to buy or make a custom sheath for it. Not to mention that for $17 I won't be crying if/when it ends up at the bottom of the lake!

Thanks again! BF is a great board. I'm glad the guys at Equipped.org let me know about it. :D

That F4 is a cool little knife. If you get the urge for something "better" that also meets your criteria, check out AG Russell's Deerhunter, or Bird&Trout in AUS-8A or VG-10.
More expensive than the F4, but very efficient cutters (well, I can speak for the Deerhunter, anyway).

The AG Russell knives have a really nifty thumb-bolt sheath that has secure blade retension and a very efficient release. You push on the bolt and the pressure of your thumb sort of ejects the knife from the sheath (actually the sheath is sort of ejected from the knife).

Thanks

All 3 of those AG Russell knives look good although I dont completely understand how the thumb bolt sheath works. Those little black BM Nim knives are cool too (I'm quite partial to BM knives in general) but a little heavier than I would prefer.

Will P. Good Call, I forgot about the Nimravus Cub. I've actually used mine as a dive knife several times, in fresh water and worked perfectly. Brian6244 that maybe worth your while to look at. You should be able to get one for about $80 if you look around. It's a step up from the F -4 but worth the price. Also makes a great hobby knife which is what I mostly use mine for.

The Spyderco Ronin does it for me.

I had to modify the standard sheath a bit for effective concealed neck-carry, but that took about 5 minutes.

You know, the Camillus Arclite is a very good possibility here and has the added bonus of being CHEAP to boot. IMO, for the ~$20.00 price tag of the Arclite, one might be hard pressed to find a better knife for the price.

I found a Mission Knives 440C MPU on Ebay for $45 - skeleton handle which I tossed a quick wrap on, 440C is corrosion resistant, holds an edge well and will stand up to all sorts of use, kydex sheath has excellent retention, and you can get handle scales from Mission if you like - $15 or so.
