Does this knife exist?

One of the next knives on my list will be a slim, slender, lightweight knife. More of a "weekend knife". Something more pocketable than the full-sized stockmans, muskrats, and congresses I carry as "work" knives. I've been eyeballing knives like the Case wharncliffe mini copperhead, Queen Dan Burke half-whittler, and various half-congress knives from various companies, though particularly a 70's Case 62052.

The thing is all of these knives have a sheepsfoot/wharncliffe master blade and a secondary pen blade. And that's fine, I love straight blades, but I'm wondering if the reverse exists.

3.25-3.75" closed
Clip (preferred) or spear master blade
Bheepsfoot/wharncliffe/coping secondary
Single backspring
Slim and slender.

I've seen a toenail or sleeveboard or something like that with a spear master and coping secondary, but that's not what I'm looking for. I've scrolled through every eBay listing of "congress knife" and "whittler knife" and haven't found what I'm looking for.

Thanks.

You could check the Schatt&Morgan XVI series from 2006.

Greenbone, Half Whittler, single spring, keystone shield, Turkish Clip master,
Cope minor. Just measured the knife just under 3.5" closed. Any good?

The regular case mini copperhead has a clip main blade instead of wharncliffe IIRC. Pen secondary though, sorry 'bout that.

Ahhh, I'd forgotten about that one. I remember trying to track one of those down a few months ago, but it's hard to track down because it was mislabled in the nomenclature. That indeed would be just what I'm looking for...if only I could find one.

Still open to other suggestions of course.

Ever try a canoe? Queen makes a single backspring canoe, spear master, no wharncliffe or sheepsfoot secondary, but awesome D2 steel. Very slim and pocketable.

A.G. Russell used to make a reverse congress in that configuration. There's also the Kershaw Double Cross.

Check out a Hawbaker Muskrat. One backspring, clip on one side, sheepsfoot on the other. Definitely slim and slender. Perhaps the only problem is that it may exceed the length req.

I have 2, with a 3rd on the way.;) I've had a Canal Street for a few months, I just received my Case/Tony Bose one (sooooo nice), and have a Robeson Shuredge (Queen) on the way.

The Hawbaker has become my favorite pattern for a "work" knife. But even though it's a single backspring, it's a wide one, plus the catch-bits, making the knife just as wide as, or close to, a 2 backspring knife. The 2 Hawbakers I have are every bit as large and heavy as my Queen large stockman. That's why I'm looking for something more streamlined for "off duty" carry.

I was thinking the GEC half congress was configured like that but it may indeed have a wharncliffe primary.

If you can find one a Silver Knight 250B has a drop point primary and a sheepsfoot secondary in a pen knife configuration. They are superb knives.

The three "deuces" in this photo (on the left) are 250Bs.

Of course, it doesn't have the exact blade mix you want but CASE yellow Pen should not be sneezed at either. Very good Clip and so ultra slim in pocket, yet long enough to be credible. Rough Rider's Half Whittler (Spear Longpull/Matchstrike, Pen) is another decent single spring in Amber Bone, tough springs on these!

Finally and alluringly, GEC's forthcoming No.33 Conductor will be a single spring Pen knife. It would not surprise me if they eventually put other blades on this frame too...Very keyed up about this one, only a week or two to wait I think!

This is the posted info about the #33 Conductor so far...

Name: #33 Conductor
OAL: 3 3/8"
9/16" high in the middle
3/8" thick
Slim Clip & Pen Blades (on opposite ends)

Case makes the mini copperhead with a clip main. It does have a pen on the other end though. I've got to tell you my mini copperhead has had more carry and use than any of my other knives since I got it. - Ed

William:

That's a really neat looking knife. I may have to see about picking up one of those if I ever run across one.

Yeah, that's it. It's hard to find because it's not a serpentine moose, and the actual model number is 42155. There's a couple websites that list it, but I'm wary of them because they're not dealers that we're familiar with.

Ed, it has an extremely thin Turkish Clip blade, you could fillet with it!

The bone is very nice indeed but it does have slightly sunken spring on open.No blade rub and terrific snap.

Regards, W

I certainly could go for one of those myself. I like that one very much. I knew from your description that it wasn't a moose, but that had to be the one you were talking about. - Ed
