Does this knife look legit? (Buck 500)

We don't normally link to active auctions.
But I am going to move this to the Buck Forum. The moderator in that forum can decide.

That being said, it does not look right to me. The 500 series knives in 440C that I have seen all have that thickened area directly above the edge. This one is lacking that. But I'll leave it to the Buck experts to give you an official answer.

Here is a pic from the auction:

Like ITE said,

That's the real deal!

Is it really "PRE-74"??????

No. The Duke was introduced in 1978.
As I understood the production started in 1979.
Also the knife has a stainiless steel frame

Haebbie.

P.S.: Imho it is too expensive.

It has micarta, the old English stamp and less belly on the blade. I think it is a 79-83 date Duke. With a stainless frame and 440C blade. Universal, Each time you've posted you've broken Forum rules. They've been lenient on you. DM

Another bay seller inflating his offerings to make more $$. Or just not educated about his products. It is NOT pre 74 as Haebbie said. Nor are the micarta handles so rare. Caeveat emptor. DM

Buck knife 500 Duke Micarta scales, NOS
is this made of Micarta? it is the old English script, the add states it's a pre-74, but from my research here the 500 wasnt available until 78.
This should be 440C steel right? thats what I am wanting.

I have had multiple dealing with this seller, yes, he did get his information a little mixed up but he is a stand up guy to deal with. He is open and answers emails promptly. Would not hesitate to buy from him, just be an informed buyer. He packs super well for shipping.

Ok ^. Still, we've discussed this model often here. This data is in books too. How can one get that for off on the facts? Plus, we see this a lot among sellers. Lets see if he changes it. DM
