Does this look like a puffball?

Rainsparrow and I were out gathering some fatwood/lighter knot this past weekend and found what appears to be a decent little puffball mushroom. I sliced it in half to look for any internal parts that might indicate it is an immature amanita. There were no parts developing on the inside but the stem was fairly visible. I don't recall ever seeing a visible stem in a puffball cross-section before. What do you think?

Looks like one to me, definitely not an earth ball which can sometimes be confused till you slice them open.

i have found a lot of puffballs before but none that were odd shaped like that. if there are any brown streaks in any puffballs you do find, that means there are worms in it and are no good to eat.

The odd shape was throwing me too. Thanks for the opinions. Never worth taking a risk with fungi.

have you ever seen pear shaped puffballs? they only grow on rotting logs covered in moss. they are not quite as big as the biggest grapes you can find and look just like a pear. if you find any it will usually be a large ammount. i have found enough to fill a 5 gallon bucket.
