Does this look like the right color for L6....

after tempering? Last night after my ankle fiasco I just laid down on the bed and told my son th turn off the oven. I did'nt get to see the temp when he shut it down but I had reset it to 425o befor I fell down. Here's how they looked this morn, probably had two hours in the oven.
 
That would depend on the L6. Crucible L6 should do just fine with those colors, if it is really representative of the temp it was at for 2 hours (you know how oxides are). Carpenter L6, or some others I have seen labeled L6, may not hold quite the same edge they would have if the colors are a little less blue-purple and more brownish-crimson.
 
Sharpen them and flex the edge on a brass rod, if it chips it's too hard, if it flexes and stays bent it's too soft, if it flexes and returns true it's about right.
