Does this one bother anyone else?

Listed as "complete nickel silver". I'm bothered by the blade being both etched on the spine AND tang stamped 2018. Anyone have an example of a blade marked this way? Did they do it in the Custom Shop? There were no markings on the blade backside. Also the declining clip. What do people think about the box size & shape? I'm by no means a Buck knife expert but I can't recall seeing this combination of "features" before. Using the "C" word can be rude in some situations but how about on a knife? Maybe I'm bored and trying to imagine up some conversation.

I'm not really qualified to answer, being fairly new to collecting Buck knives. But it does seem strange to me that the blade is both etched and stamped. For what reason? Also, to my eyes, the shape of the tang itself seems off. Not a 90° angle to the spine. Just my thoughts.

IMHO - it's not right. Like you called, the etch and stamp don't look right, but the front bolster is wrong and the pivot pin being visible isn't right. Both of those issues could've been caused by whomever did the scales, but I suspect it's fake all around. Blade shape itself doesn't bother me so much as they slims went through some changes, but the etch and stamp together... not so much.

That clip point blade looks very much like one of the newer straight clip points. Were those manufactured back in the San Diego location. The etching and stamping doesn't seem right the plunge grind on the tang is at the wrong angle. I also agree on the box being wrong. The customer service papers having the El Cahon address is off for the yellow and black printing of the box too. Isn't the date code on the tang 2018? That would place manufacture in Idaho wouldn't it?

The blade does look odd. The shape indicates it was from a 110 Slim Pro (S30V) or 110 Slim Select (420HC). The BUCK USA markings on the spine were on the S30V blade, but this blade did not have the tang stamp like the photo. The S30V blades were etched with an inverted 110 and the date stamp along with the BOS flame and S30V marking on the right side. The 420HC blades were stamped with the usual three line markings like the photo above and nothing on the right side of the blade. The 420HC blades did not have the BUCK USA markings on the spine. I don't think the Slim Pro and Slim Selects were made until 2019. Why does the sheet have the El Cajon address listed on a blade made in 2018 when Buck moved to Idaho in 2005? The Slim models came with pocket clips and no sheaths, but this knife comes with a sheath. Someone should ask the seller, who is in the Netherlands, for a photo of the model number on the box. No idea what this blade is, but I would not chance $335 on it.

If the blade didn't have the etch, it looks exactly like the 420HC straight clip blades on the 110 Slim Select introduced mid-year 2018. It has the tumbled finish and the correct color and location for the thumb studs. At some point, Buck moved the the thumb stud to the left of the plunge grind which I believe happened around 2022. I've searched everywhere for an image of a 110 with both the etch and tang stamp on the blade but can't find one. I Thought at one time there was a buildout/web special or on exclusive that had that.

The box is a strange one and doesn't look right. I agree, an email to the seller asking for additional details and photos of different angles of the box might help. Maybe they know who the customizer was?

I did not pick up on the Netherlands location. Possibly exports may have a different feature set but IMO it is an "assembled" kit with a box whose shape I associate with counterfit 110's I've seen here in the U.S.

Dang, one really does need to listen to their "spidey- sense" when shopping on "the bay". The fakes are really improving and more difficult to spot unless you have the experience/knowledge and a "trained eye" to spot the discrepancies. There are currently 17 watchers on the listing, I hope now that the Buck moderator has agreed that it's suspicious and likely not a legitimate Buck, that it is reported and the listing gets yanked before some poor smuck gets fleeced.

Unfortunately when fishing the bay, it is easy money and the market is saturated with knockoffs. Just my experience but they don't do much or can't keep up with deleting all the fakes. I'm super cautious buying anything on there.

Other brands have an insane amount of fakes on there. If it's not a reputable dealer buyer beware.

I found the same knife, same pictures, on a Russian vendor website. The listing says they have 11 in stock.

Lousy commies.

When a red flag waves.. Stay away. When I actively looked for odd 112's I passed at the first flag.

No longer need to be concerned, I reported the listing to eBay as counterfeit and they've removed the listing.
