So I ordered this knife from Knifecenter on Feb 17, 2015... alittle more then 5 months ago . I've edc'ed this knife nonstop throughout those 5 months and still to this day the whole time. Its been my primary Edc knife thats been used for everything. Ive used it for cutting plenty of cardboard boxes, cutting so many apples on ceramic plates that it had to be 30-+50, a large amount of food prep from veggies to meats, cut ropes threads and strings, cutting dead/sick branches leaves and stems from a tree along with every plant i have in my garden (zucchinis, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, basil, sunflowers, string beans etc), harvested many products from the plants, carved points to wooden sticks and large branchs from trees, cut metal wire coated in rubber to use to tie things around the house and garden with to fasten things, opened mail, opened packages, cut tape, and the list goes on. Ive done so much with this knife in the past 5 months and its all ived used up until i got the paramilitary 2, yet i still use and carry both. My question to you is... does a knife like this deserve to look the way it should? Does it look significantly different referring to the main blade shape? Its come to my mind to wonder whether or not i have oversharpened this knife. Im not quite sure honestly. Given the softish steel and small size, this knife is a workhorse. People think that this knife cant get alot done, but i definitely say it could. Its very very slim and pocketable, but ive done everything with it so far and thats what im comfortable with. So does this look oversharpened to you guys? I dont think oversharpening it will be much of a concern or issue now with any knife since i have a 6k grit stone and itll take longer to remove more metal, even by not paying attention. So what do you guys think?

Have you tried stropping in between sharpenings?

Victorinox knives are very thin and fairly soft. Mine respond very well to stropping on leather.

I actually sharpen them very little. I carry one everyday and use it often. None of mine have been sharpened down like that, not even ones I have used for 10+ years.

It actually doesn't look bad right now but it does appear you will get a short service life out of it if you continue the way you are going.

Try stropping often. I strop my Secretary Victorinox knives every week. The Secretary is a great little carry knife, but I save it for dress clothes and light tasks. I carry a Farmer with a much heavier (relatively) heavier blade stock than the Secretary.

Should't take much effort to sharpen this knife on a stone. If it takes longer than a minute or two, you're probably over doing it. I don't see any big issues with the knife other than you are allowing the side of the blade to come in contact with the stone versus just the edge.

Vic knives are intended to use. I don't see a big deal with "service life". Keep a spare since you like it so much.
