Does this Star-Tac exist?

So I've slowly started gaining interest in the Umnumzaan, specifically the Star-Tac, but my timeline on these is kind of sketchy. I was wondering if this configuration exists: New pivot, new jimping, no overtravel stop...possibly old pivot, new jimping, no overtravel stop. I've read and seen some videos on all the minute differences these have had over the years. Of course, I'd take one like it comes from the factory today, but am just trying to gain more understanding of my Star-Tac chronology. Also, with the Zaan not being so new now and people finally figuring out how to open it properly, is there any chance CRK will ever do away with the overtravel stop? Any other rumors of any new design changes coming in the future?

New pivot, new jimping, no overtravel stop... None known.
old pivot, new jimping, no overtravel stop... Yes one known, probably more..

That's and understatement!! ;)
All the best, Dave

Is it just me or does the Star-Tac on the bottom have slightly less wider and deeper grooves than the other 3? I'm guessing this is the current configuration?

No, its not just you. They are definitely not as deep.

Maybe it's been to the Spa? Lighting; Dave has really stepped up his photography game so who knows.

The Zann Man can answer that question best.

I agree, it looks like he is trying to save some money in the manufacturing process. I wish they wouldn't have changed the grooves. The new ones just look like they are trying to cut back on costs. Oh well, still a good knife.

Save money by setting the mill a millimeter higher? I'll lean towards maybe he was trying to address some of the complaints about it feeling too sharp. Either way, it still looks better to me than the standard Umnum.

Very good guys:thumbup: Yes the groves on the later current version are not as deep or wide as on the earlier versions. This change appears to have happened with the introduction of the "new" pivot.
Here is the presentation side.

I think I actually like the looks of the shallower milling better. Looks like it'd feel good in hand without being too sharp.

I know that our good friend Buck and others have said that although they like the looks of the Star-Tac it is harder on the hand than the Original Umnumzaan. So you are probably correct uofaengr. They are cool looking though that's for sure.. that's for dang sure.. ;)
I don't use mine.. so I really cant say. Although I personally prefer the Early Orignal Design. Here is a pic of my Oct 2008.

Very nice blade. I handled my friend's brand new Starbenza the other day, and I remember it having shallower milling like the new Star-Tac. Though I prefer the plain Sebenza, it was very attractive and felt nice too.
