Does Umnumzaan come with take-down tools/loctite?

Sorry if this is obvious somewhere but I cannot tell. Some folk seem to indicate they got the tools with the knife others seem to indicate they didn't. Maybe those that got the tools with the knife bought them used and the prior owner bought the maintenance kit separately.

So, please tell me if a new Unmunzaan comes with the maintenance kit or not.

Thanks,
ThumperACC

I bought mine from an authorized distributor and it did NOT come with the takedown tool or loctite.

I purchased the takedown "kit" separately from an on-line store.

I got a tube of CRK lube directly from CRK during one of my knives spa visits.

When I got my Umnumzaan a while back it did not come with a take down kit but a friend of mine got one a couple of weeks ago and he did get one. I'm not sure if it was part of a deal or the take down kit just comes with the knife now.

It didn't six months ago, but I've heard rumor that CR is bundling them together now. Good move I think.

It would make sense and couldn't take much out of the profit margin. :) Probably worth more than the cost in terms of customer goodwill. :D

I am very sorry to disappoint you folks, but I can tell you for sure, that the Chris Reeve company is not providing the take down tool/locktite kit with the knives.

They are available for purchase at $12.50 from CRK directly or from dealers who happen to stock them.

Hey Thumper just buy the Umnum already, you won't be dissapointed:p

I'm trying :D:D:D

Truthfully I can't decide between a large Sebenza and an Umnumzaan and I don't have funds for both.

That swedge at the tip makes the blade look like a harpoon. I am a little concerned that it might draw more attention than I'd like when I 'pull it out'. I work in an office environment in the People's Republik of Massachusetts. Not a very knife friendly state. I think the styiling is really cool and it looks like a more robust version of the Sebenza, which I think is saying something.

Anyone have experience with non knife-knut reactions to the Umnumzaan?

Hi Neil,

Thanks for clearing this up.

Do you stock them (the maintenance kits)?

Oh man, I was wayyyy off :(.

Mine that I bought about 8 months ago did not. So I had to buy one. I still feel that the knife is a great value. But it would have been nice if they threw in a takedown kit and some lube. But I am very happy with my purchase.

Thanks for clearing that up, Neil.

I have not received too much negative reaction from pulling mine out in mixed company - but I try real hard to be covert when I do it.

The point is not as fine on the Umnum as on the Seb, and coupled with the swedge makes for a more durable tip IMHO. I like the swedge - it has come in handy a few times. The knives are very similar - but to me the Umnum feels like it can take on a little more hard use than the Seb.
